Client: High-End Office Furniture Company
Assignment: A furniture manufacturer needed to teach front-line supervisors how to increase the performance of employees, especially new hires, through training, coaching and feedback
Strategy Used: WOW! transformations understands that most training is done on-the-job by supervisors, not just by trainers in classrooms. Therefore, the first task was to better prepare front-line supervisors for the important task of improving the performance of their employees, giving them the tools they needed for effective motivation, teaching, coaching, performance feedback and recognition.
Tactics: The centerpiece of this project was a "Supervisors Guide" prepared by WOW! transformations in collaboration with the company's Training Department. The Guide helped supervisors become more familiar with the information and processes to help new hires be successful. The Supervisors Guide was a week-by-week checklist and toolkit covering the first month of onboarding. In addition, WOW! transformations helped create a "New Hires Guide" to help new employees keep track of tasks and activities during onboarding.
The Results: With the help of the Training Department, supervisors are now able to help new employees better understand the policies and procedures of the organization, as well as the technical skills required in each job. Furthermore, the program helps individuals understand the unique tasks and responsibilities of their jobs and how to talk with their supervisor regarding performance expectations and goals.
